What is a WaldRun?

Everything about the WaldRun is simple. Show up on any (or every) Saturday and run 5km with a fun group of people in a beautiful, natural setting. Your speed is unimportant and you don't need to consider yourself "a runner". Of course if you want to race it, please do! We'll have prizes for the fastest and most consistent runners through the season. But most will just enjoy the weekly challenge of maintaining or improving their own times.

Modeled after the UK's famous parkrun, WaldRun is about building an inclusive community of runners and promoting healthy habits that keep people fit, happy and engaged with their neighbors.

Convenient Location

An easy 8 minute walk from tram stop Universit├Ąt Irchel (lines 9 & 10), or 15 minutes from Milchbuck (trams 7, 14 & 17, buses 69, 72 & 83). A jog or brisk walk will give you a great warm up for the run.

The Course

A fun but challenging course through the forest on the north side of Zurichberg. With 71 meters of elevation gain/loss, it's enough to get your heart pounding without being punishing. The trails are wide, well-maintained gravel and are free from motorized vehicles. The course will be well marked, leaving you free to run hard and enjoy the scenery. With luck you may see a fox, a deer, or some other denizens of the forest.

Registration

Registration is simple and you only need to do it once. Follow this link and we'll ask you a few questions--it will take you less than two minutes.

On the morning of your first WaldRun, stop by our registration table and pick up a small plastic card that's easy to carry.

After you cross the finish line, we'll scan the barcode on your card to record your time. Results will be posted on this website soon after every run. You'll be able to see each run you've done and compare your times against others.

Keep your plastic card. That's all you'll need to run in the future--you'll never need to register again. (If you lose your tag, 10 CHF will be charged for a replacement.)
